Sambungan dari entry ~ Bruxelles oh Brussel ~
Busy dgn kerja sekolah plus demam sket jadi tergendala mood update fotopages ni. Anyway here are some pictures from Brussel City with brief descriptions for each of them.
The Royal Palace
This building was quite far to be reached by walking. Luckily, Kelana Convoy's driver, Udo, was kind enough to make a stop for 5 minutes for us to take a shot at this beautiful architectural building. Mekasih Udo!!!
The Grand Place
This square is surrounded by important buildings. It is the centre of official festivities and big public events. Every two years, on the weekend of 15th August, carpet of flowers is created in the middle of Grand Place.
Some buildings surrounding the Grand Place:
i. L'Hotel de Ville (The Town Hall)
ii. The corporation houses, which were under construction the time we were there. These houses represent boatmen', tailors', butchers' and archers' houses as Grand Place used to be Brussel's City first trading area.
iii. House of the Dukes of Barbant (second picture, building on the right).
The Legend of Manneken Pis
A visit to Brussel will not complete without a visit to the Manneken Pis (so we've been told ). According to legend (Kelana Convoy told us different legend, but I kinda like the one that I was about to type ), this little boy extinguished a fire, thereby saving Brussel from disaster. From that day, he became the most well-known citizen of Brussel! . macam...macam... I was told this statue has been kidnapped several times. No wonder CCTV is installed near him (it?).
Rue de Bouchers
On this street, lined numerous restaurants. I just love what they did with the food presentation. Siap ada deco...but wouldn't feel comfortable to snap a lot of pictures around here. Takut pekedai tu marah. Becareful with the mussels though, most of their menu is cooked with alcohol.
Besides mussels, other famous products of Belgium are lace and of course belgian chocolates. Berpinarlah mata tengok coklat kat sana tu. Terlalu banyak. And of course very tempting....
From all of the Belgians finest, I miss their waffle the most. Just yummeh...
Have a nice day frenzzz... I am out...
